1975 JENSEN INTERCEPTOR Series 3 for sale
Price: $89,500
UK based Jensen Motors introduced the Interceptor in 1966 as a four seater two door GT. Designed in Italy by the workshop of Touring of Milan, the Interceptor was instantly praised for its unique styling that featured a huge rear glass hatchback which was ahead of its time and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.
The Interceptor would go through several slight alterations during its production with the Series III model debuting in 1971. The Series III Interceptor featured a slightly restyled front end with additional standard features and Chrysler's 7.2 Litre 440ci V8 became the Interceptors engine of choice. This was combined with the 3-speed Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic and Salisbury limited-slip differential.
In 1974 Jensen unveiled the Interceptor Convertible featuring a power folding top making the Interceptor more appealing to those accustomed to open air motoring. By 1975 the worldwide economic recession had impacted smaller manufactures like Jensen resulting in the company entering into receivership. Production ceased in 1976.
The combination of American performance, Italian design and legendary English coachwork created an enviable legacy for the Jensen Interceptor. Today the Interceptor is regarded as one of the best GT cars of all time with examples highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
For sale is a rare 1975 Jensen Interceptor Mk III Convertible presented in gorgeous Pacific Blue with an impeccably kept Cream Connelly leather interior and dark blue convertible top. A personal import by the current Jensen enthusiast owner in 2011, this magnificent motor car is believed to have been driven just 102,600 miles from new and is among one of the nicest examples we've seen. It comes fitted with nearly every available option including factory air conditioning, full leather interior, power windows, power steering, Jaeger Instruments, extensive wood veneer panelling and lots of chrome detailing complementing the 2+2 grand tourer layout.
The Jensen was painted in the USA prior to importation and the Interceptor still presents in excellent condition throughout and is rust and damaged free. The owner fitted a new convertible top in 2022 and retrimmed and re carpeted the Jensen in 2016.
Mechanically, the big Jensen is powered by the factory fitted Chrysler 440 ci 7.2 Litre V8, 3-speed Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic and Salisbury limited-slip differential. The owner imported the Jensen from Atlanta, Georgia in the USA in 2011 and has serviced the Jensen regularly using the car for club events and Sunday drives. The Interceptor runs an Edelbrock carby and manifold, a dual stainless steel exhaust. Suspension has been refurbished with new bushes and ball joints. The fuel tank has been removed cleaned and refitted.
The Jensen rides on the factory 15" GKN alloy wheels with White Wall 205/65R15 tyres all round. There is a spare and tools in the boot.
