Ford's redesign of the Mustang for 1969 saw the car grow in size over the original Mustang Pony car allowing Ford engineers the room to install a variety of engines for the Mustang range. You could now option your Mustang with anything from a fuel efficient 200 and 250 Cui 6 cylinder, a small block 302 or 351 Cui V8 or perhaps the Big Block 390, 428 or 429 Cui V8s.

And for 1969, Ford introduced the Mach 1 distinguished by it's reflective side stripes, a pop-open petrol cap, dual exhausts, matte-black hood with simulated air scoop and NASCAR-style cable and bonnet pin tiedowns. It used steel wheels with white lettered Goodyear Polyglas tyres. A functional "shaker" hood scoop - which visibly vibrated by being attached directly to the air cleaner through a hole in the hood - was available, as was a tail-mounted wing and chin spoilers and rear window louvered blackout shade. The Mach 1 featured a deluxe interior with simulated wood trim, high-backed seats, extra sound deadening, remote sports mirrors, and other features.

For sale is a great example of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. According to the Marti Report, this car was originally built in January 1969 and retailed by Thompson Ford of Reedsport, Oregon. The Mach 1 was ordered in Lime Gold with black out hood and with Black Corinthian Knit high backed bucket seats with the optional M Code 351 4V Windsor V8 engine, 4 speed wide ratio Top Loader gearbox, 9" traction lock differential, power disc front brakes, Sports Deck rear seat, AM radio and Tachometer. 

The Mach 1 was restored in Australia after being imported to Australia 18 years ago. Mechanically the Mach 1 runs the matching numbers Windsor 351 4V motor that has been rebuilt in 2024 with mild cam, 780CFM Holley double pumper carby, Edlebrock manifold, double row timing chain and MSD ignition with receipts. The Mach 1 was 300 klms on the rebuilt engine. Everything has been restored including suspension, brakes and the floor pan is in excellent original condition. The original manifold, rocker covers and balancer come with car.

The interior has been re-trimmed in the original Black Vinyl Corinthian Knit high backed coverings with original door cards. The dash, gauges, steering wheel and shifter are all original and in very good condition and even the clock is still working. The Mach 1 is also fitted with new carpet and hood lining and the car comes with the original console as the current owner prefers the car without this fitted.

The boot has a new boot matt and the Mach 1 is riding on the original Mustang Magnum 500 Sports wheels shod with brand new BF Goodrich Radial TAs, 205/60x15s on the front and 255/60x15s on the rear.

The current owner has owned the Mach 1 since 2010 and the car comes with the Marti Report and the original owners log books, original build tag all framed nicely for show purposes.
