1965 FORD MUSTANG GT350 for sale
Price: $135,000
Carroll Shelby built only four GT350 Convertibles. They are the rarest and most sought-after of Shelby's high performance Mustangs. Powered by the 289 4V V8 and equipped with the Paxton Supercharger, these Shelby Mustangs were good for between 390-450Hp and could surge from 0-60 Mph in under six seconds with top speeds over 150 Mph.
For sale from our Sydney Showroom is a mind blowing tribute to these super rare Shelby Mustang Convertibles. Built by Peter Dout of Pete's Garage in Melbourne with assistance from Max Hayes of Vintique Moto, this Candy Apple Red Mustang has been built to faithfully replicate Shelby's GT 350 at a cost of well over $250,000..
The heart of the GT350 was the K-code 4V 289 V8 which was fitted with solid lifter cams with adjustable rockers and four barrel carbies plus a freer flowing exhaust. Peter Dout used a late model 302 block and boosted capacity to 331ci using Scat crank and rods, Mahle pistons, special Comp Cams suited to the Paxton Supercharger, high flow Dart cylinder heads fed by a rare GT350 aluminium inlet manifold topped with a 650cfm Holley specially modified to cope with the boost from the blower.
Exhaust is via a set of Doug's Headers and twin 21/2" pipes. Power goes to the ground via a close ratio 4 speed Top Loader gearbox with Hurst shifter and then to a factory K code 9" diff with 3.25 gearing. Braking is via factory Mustang Kelsey Hayes four piston calipers hooked up to a modern Falcon brake booster (hidden in the front guard) and larger than stock rear drums and shoes.
On the inside, the Shelby GT350 is as per factory specifications with black vinyl trim, sports wood grain steering wheel and Dakota digital dash for 100% accurate readouts. The Convertible hood is electronically controlled with a dash mounted switch making this the ultimate summer cruiser.
The Mustang's suspension has also been fully rebuilt, lowered to Shelby height specs with sturdy sway arms and quality adjustable Koni shocks all round. The right hand drive conversion has been done professionally and looks like it was always there and the underside has been fully detailed with factory correct red oxide overspray. The Shelby GT350 is riding on Magnum alloys with BF Goodyear 225/60R15 tyres.
The boot is also fully detailed with checker boot liner and a full sized spare.
The GT350 drives, handles and stops perfectly. This is a Mustang that can be driven all day, everyday with confidence. And boy does this car turn heads!!!
Supplied with a copy of the 8 page spread in Unique Cars Magazine published in September 2022, issue no. 470.
