The 1971 Hardie Ferodo 500 at Bathurst. Thirteen XY Falcon GT-HO Phase 3s fronted the grid led by the Ford works' cars of Allan Moffat and John French. Moffat gained pole position with a best practice lap of 2:38.9, a full 10 seconds faster than his time set in the 1970 XW GT-HO Phase 2, making a pretty daunting prospect for the Holden Torana and Chrysler Charger teams. At the end of the Great Race, Phase 3 GT-HO Falcons filled 5 of the top 6 positions with a single LC Torana GTR XU-1 driven by a young Colin Bond in 4th place.

At the time, the GT-HO was considered the fastest 4 door sedan in the world and that combined with it's dominance at Bathurst and in Touring car events ensured the Phase 3 an unmatched reputation making it still to this day the most desirable and collectible Australian Muscle car ever produced.

While racers like Moffat, Gibson, Skelton, Carter, French, Bartlett, West, Seton and Goss could drive a GT-HO at Bathurst flat out down Conrod at 150mph, just turning the key, blipping the throttle and watching that shaker crank over whilst parked in your driveway will make you feel like the King of the Mountain!

Many of us can recall being a passenger in a Phase 3 back in the day. These experiences have left an indelible mark on us for a lifetime.

According to the '1971 Falcon GT-HO Phase 3 Register' expertly compiled by Ross Vasse, this Vermilion Fire Phase 3 is the 241st GT-HO built and was originally sold by Baldwin Ford in Brookvale, NSW. It is one of 68 painted in Vermilion Fire and one of 65 with Black trim and one of four with the same options fitted. The HO has been independently inspected on behalf of ICAARS by Mark Barraclough and is also supplied with a full ICAARS report, a Deluxe ACCHS report and log books. 

Mechanically, this matching numbers GT-HO retains its original 780 Holley carby, factory Rev Limiter, Brake proportioning valve, Vacuum tank, the close ratio Top Loader gearbox, heavy duty HO tail shaft and the 28 spline 3.5:1 9" diff.  

The interior has had a freshen up with new seat vinyl coverings and new carpeting with original dash, perfect crash pad, gauges, original steering wheel and door cards. Mileage shown is 118,579 miles.

In the boot is the factory 36 gallon fuel tank, new boot mat and a genuine 5 slot spare.
