2001 FORD FALCON AU for sale
Price: $345,000
For sale is Supercar Hall of Famer, John Bowe's 2001 Bathurst 1000 CAT 600 AU Falcon Race car. From seventh on the grid, Bowe charged to first place setting a Supercars lap record in the process. In race ready condition and with all CAMS log books and COD, this spectacular Supercar is now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.
In 1999, after 11 years with Dick Johnson Racing, John Bowe moved over to Western Australian based CAT Racing to drive the Black and Yellow CAT 600 AU Falcon. Built for John Bowe by Briggs Motorsport in Brisbane by Craig 'Shady' Barker the car scored some great wins including a pole position and a race win in 2001 at Queensland Raceway, a couple of top four finishes at Eastern Creek in round three and a fifth place in the second race around the streets of Canberra. At Bathurst, Bowe qualified the car in fifth position and then finished seventh during the Top 10 Shootout behind the Holden Racing Team, Stone Brothers Racing and Dick Johnson Racing. Bowe's opening stint that day was one of the best performances he ever had at Mount Panorama. "The car was a rocket ship, and I plucked off those in front of me and got to the front of the field after 15 laps or so", says Bowe. "I was in another league. The car was absolutely brilliant and when it came to the first driver change I couldn't see anyone in my mirrors. I even set a new lap record. Then it all came crashing down. First, I mucked up and stopped in the wrong pit bay as I misread the numbers on a pit boom and then my co-driver, Simon Wills, copped a drive-through for speeding out of the pitlane. Not long after, he crashed trying to pass two cars at once into Murray's Corner and damaged the suspension. We got it fixed, but he eventually sealed our fate when he beached it in the gravel at The Chase late in the race."
This famous hand built V8 Supercar is now for sale. Restored to its 2001 Championship Race livery and in race condition, the Falcon features the $140,000 5 litre Windsor V8 engine, 6 speed H pattern Holinger gearbox and 9" Ford centre with spool. Weighing in at 1,350 KG, the Windsor powered Supercar features MoTeC Fuel Injection with power output of 620 bhp / 463 kW @ 7,500 rpm and torque at 623 Nm / 460 ft lbs @ 5,500 rpm. The CAT 600 car features double wishbones, fully adjustable coil springs over damper units with double wishbones, Watts linkage, fully adjustable coil springs over damper units at the rear. Brakes are ventilated discs, all-round and gears are swapped via a Holinger 6 speed manual gearbox. Top speed ... a cool 302 Km/h.
According to John Bowe, "The car is currently owned by an enthusiastic collector of historic cars and race cars, and looks exactly the same as the last day I drove it in anger. It's amazing. Most of the early AU Falcon V8 Supercars were built from a chassis kit developed by Ford Australia and produced by Peter Beehag, a specialist fabricator. But the CAT Racing Falcon AU was constructed entirely in-house by our team of experts, which makes it totally unique among V8 Supercars. It was a fantastic car to drive then and would be race ready with a half day of fine tuning again. Everything works just the same as it did the last time I drove it at Bathurst, 23 years ago."
The CAT 600 Supercar comes complete with the CAMS log book, COD and an impressive list of spare parts.
This Supercar will make a great long term muscle car investment. As a centre piece for any Ford collection or the CAT 600 car can be raced in Sports Sedan Racing and the VIC V8 Series and once it reaches heritage status it can then race in additional race series. John Bowe has offered to assist the new owner to prepare the car for racing and is happy to discuss the car with the prospective buyer.
Available for your inspection in our Sydney Showroom. (Ref. 6513)
We are happy to arrange a video inspection of the car using WhatsApp. Please call for more details and note Door to Door enclosed transport is available anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
