This is a standout example of a 1971 built Fairmont. Never pulled apart and always garaged and maintained by the one family from new, this Fairmont was sold to a Mr. Bill Cairns (the current custodians Uncle) by Melford Motors in Elizabeth St, Melbourne and picked up on 20th May 1971 (As per the registration label). Bill said that the XY was so popular that he had to wait 6 months for the delivery. He traded his Mk2 Zephyr on the Fairmont and paid $24.30 extra for the fitment of a tow bar for a total cost of $3,748.75. 

Bill ordered the Fairmont in Ultra White with Black trim, the 250 6 cylinder engine and column automatic. The Fairmont has always been garaged and is supplied with the original log books, the original new car sales invoice from Melford Motors, the original Victorian number plates plus the original new car brochure. 

The car was sold by Bill to his nephew in 2011 with 104,130 miles on the clock. Being a hands on car enthusiast, the current owner has put a huge amount of time, love and effort going right through the car to ensure its reliability. This included rebuilding the motor, gearbox, braking system and suspension. A full history of all works performed and costs associated is included. The owner has subtly improved the Fairmont with the fitment of 2V heads, a Crow cam, a 38/38 Weber carby, ceramic coated Pacemaker extractors a dual exhaust system and electronic ignition. The Fairmont is also equipped with XF power steering and a new PBR brake booster and master cylinder.

The interior is day one except for the driver's seat. The door cards, hood lining, dash, crash pad and steering wheel are all original. The seat belts are original and the glass is original except for the front windscreen. The original dealer sticker is still on the rear window. The chrome and stainless is original and were polished when the car was repainted in 2 Pak in 2011.  

The original 14" steel rims are covered with the original Fairmont hubcaps and 215/65R14 Bob Jane tyres. In the boot is a new boot matt, factory tools and bag and an older spare tyre. 
 
Showing a genuine documented 117,776 miles from new, this well loved and cared for Fairmont is now ready for the next care taker to enjoy.
