Aussie Muscle Car fans will remember the rain soaked '72 Hardie Ferodo 500 at Bathurst won by 27 year old Peter Brock driving a Holden Dealer Team prepared Torana LJ XU-1. This race was the first of Brock's record nine victories in which Brock finished a lap ahead of Queensland racer John French driving an XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III. And this was despite Brock being penalised one minute at his last pit stop for starting his car while the HDT crew were still re-fueling.
The Hardie-Ferodo 500 created two legends on that day. Brock and the LJ Torana XU-1.
For sale is this stunning near brand new restoration of a factory '73 Glacier White LJ Torana S professionally restored in 2022 by Williams Classic Garage in Kerang, VIC as a GTR XU-1 Torana Tribute. Acid dipped and nut and bolt restored the Torana is fitted with a Heath O'Brien built 202 engine equipped with triple SU carbies, a Yella Terra head, Solid Crow cam, pushrods and lifters. Pacemaker extractors lead to a single 21/2" exhaust with dual outlet and the Tory is fitted with a PWR alloy radiator and thermo fan. Dynoed at 191 HP @5,500 RPM, the Tory comes with dyno sheet, resto and rebuild photos and receipts.
The Torana is running a M21 gearbox paired with a Banjo differential. Additionally, the suspension has been upgraded with heavy duty springs and shocks along with front and rear sway bars.
The interior has been updated to XU1 specifications, complete with new steering wheel, GTR door cards, carpets, console and headlining. With only 976 miles showing on the odometer, the Torana is as brand new.
In the boot is an XU-1 fuel tank and the restoration included the fitment of LED headlights.
Sitting on 15" CTM Muscle Centreline alloys, wrapped in Nankang 195/50R15 on the front and Hankook 205/50R15 on the rear.
